Job Overview
As a Store Inventory & Compliance Manager, you will serve as a key field representative responsible for visiting retail stores and company locations to observe daily operations, interact with staff, evaluate customer service practices, and ensure labor rights compliance.
This role plays a crucial part in supporting the federal government’s initiative to strengthen the American labor market and protect workers’ rights, including fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and respectful employer-employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled visits to retail stores and partner companies.
- Observe store operations, customer service practices, and inventory systems.
- Interview store employees to gather insights on workplace culture and conditions.
- Speak with store managers to assess hiring practices, employee training, and compliance with workplace policies.
- Complete detailed site reports after each visit, documenting findings and feedback.
- Identify potential labor violations or inconsistencies in policy implementation.
- Serve as a neutral liaison between stores and government labor policy efforts.
- Recommend improvements in inventory management and staff engagement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
- Professional demeanor and ability to speak with people at all levels (entry-level staff to management).
- Must be comfortable traveling regularly to different store locations.
- Experience in retail, customer service, or auditing is a plus.
- Knowledge of workers’ rights and federal labor policies is a strong asset (training provided).
